Jose Mourinho stirs controversy, defends himself after Juventus win
Jose Mourinho found himself in the center of a fresh controversy when he put his hand to his ears and pointed towards the Juventus fans. United staged a brilliant victory against Juventus when they came back from trailing 0-1 to winning the match 2-1 in the last five minutes. In the post-match press conference, Mourinho said he was booed constantly by Juventus supporters.
'I was insulted for 90 minutes': Mourinho
Post the match, Mourinho was asked about his gesture, and he said that the Juventus fans were quite hostile towards him. They insulted him several times during the entirety of the match. Mourinho said that what he did was not offensive, compared to what he was subject to. He said he wanted the Italian fans to speak after he snatched away the victory.
Mourinho is not new to eccentric celebrations
Jose Mourinho is a passionate man. He has always been a bit outspoken. He fails to control his emotions, and naturally finds himself in odd situations from time to time. He was stopped by Valdés when he ran out to celebrate after Inter Milan defeated Barcelona in the 2010 Champions League semis. Interestingly, Bonucci did the same thing to him last night.
Mourinho should have restrained himself?
It will be right for us to say Mourinho should have displayed more responsible behavior and not give in to provocations. However, that is who Mourinho is. He is unabashedly himself, he does not care about being an example, he does not follow examples. Mourinho has chosen 'me against the world' stance, and this makes him what he represents.
