Mourinho is livid with United players after draw against Palace
Manchester United put up a lackluster performance against Crystal Palace last night, drawing their match at Old Trafford. Post the match, United manager Jose Mourinho criticized his players saying that their hearts were not in the game. Moreover, the Red Devils were booed by their own supporters when the match ended. United are presently seventh on the Premier League table. Details follow.
Analyzing United's performance in the match
Though United started well, they soon began showing signs of lack of confidence, losing the ball unnecessarily on numerous occasions. Pogba, who returned from injury, was poor throughout the match, as was Lingard in the second-half despite putting up a decent performance in the first 45 minutes. This term, we have witnessed one of the worst starts by United in a long time.
Mourinho's comments on the performance
Mourinho, criticizing United's performance, said that such a performance against Young Boys in their Champions League group stage encounter will not be enough to win. This will make their progress from the group stage difficult. "There was not enough from the heart. You must play with the brain and also with heart and I think there was not enough heart", said the Portuguese manager.
What should we expect from United now?
Mourinho is absolutely right when he said that there was not much 'heart' to United's performance, since the passion is visibly lacking in this squad. United should set a goal to at least finish in the top 3 and secure their UCL spot. There needs to be vast improvement in the attacking areas, and many more chances should be created.
Manchester United's upcoming fixtures
United will be facing Young Boys at Old Trafford on Wednesday, November 28, at 1:30 AM. It will be followed by their Premier League match against Southampton on December 1, and against Arsenal on December 6.
