Patidar did so with the help of two sixes against Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator. The Indian batter had a terrific season for RCB and played a fearless brand of cricket.
Chris Gayle - 30 sixes in IPL 2012
As per Cricbuzz, Gayle smashed 30 sixes in overs 7-15 in the IPL 2012 season. Gayle, who played for RCB in IPL 2012, smashed a total of 733 runs to win the Purple Cap. He hit 59 sixes that season (highest) and owned a strike rate of 160.74. Gayle hit one century and seven fifties with his average reading 61.08.
Rajat Patidar - 30 sixes in IPL 2024
12 seasons later, Patidar equalled the record of Gayle for most sixes hit in overs 7-15. Patidar was a force for RCB and 30 of his 33 sixes in IPL 2024 came during the middle overs. The hard-hitter finished the campaign with 395 runs from 15 matches at 30.38. He owned a solid strike rate worth 177.13 (50s: 5).
Glenn Maxwell - 28 sixes in IPL 2014
IPL 2014 witnessed the Glenn Maxwell storm. He was adjudged the Player of the Tournament. RCB's Maxwell played for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) back then. He hit a whopping 28 sixes in the middle overs. Maxwell punctured bowlers with a tally of 552 runs at 34.50. He smoked 36 sixes and 48 fours (SR: 187.75). Maxwell helped Punjab reach the final.
Shivam Dube - 24 sixes in IPL 2023
Chennai Super Kings batter Shivam Dube did solid work for the Men in Yellow in IPL 2023, helping them win the prestigious title. In 16 matches (14 innings), Dube struck 418 runs at 32. He struck at 158.33. Notably, out of his 35 sixes last season, 24 came in the middle overs. The southpaw smashed three fifties.
