#AsiaCup2018: After Pandya, now two more Indian cricketers ruled out
India suffered a big blow when Hardik Pandya was stretchered off the field against Pakistan, on Wednesday, in the ongoing Asia Cup 2018. The all-rounder was subsequently ruled out of the series. And now, the BCCI has confirmed that Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur have suffered injuries as well. Ravindra Jadeja and Siddarth Kaul have been named as their replacements. Here's more.
Patel, Thakur suffer untimely injuries
Axar was the third choice spinner in this squad and he has been ruled out with a finger injury. "Axar injured his left index finger while fielding as a substitute during Wednesday's clash against Pakistan. Subsequent scans revealed a tendon tear," a BCCI press release stated on Thursday. Thakur, who played against Hong Kong, has suffered right hip and groin soreness.
Jadeja called as replacement for Axar
Ravindra Jadeja makes a return to the ODI fold after a year. The all-rounder adds value in the spin department for the side and could be handed a few games. He can come in as a direct replacement for all-rounder Pandya in the team. Jaddu, recently, played the final Test against England where he picked 7 wickets and scored an impressive knock of 86.
Chaotic decision sees Kaul travel back to Dubai
Siddarth Kaul, who was in Dubai two days earlier as a net session bowler, will fly back. He came to India and picked 4/55 in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Punjab against Himachal Pradesh. This looks like a chaotic decision by the Indian selectors. Kaul, who was in the T20I squad against England in July, was omitted from the Asia Cup squad.
Pacer Chahar came in for Pandya
Earlier, it was confirmed that pacer Deepak Chahar would replace injured Pandya. India now have 5 specialist pacers in the squad for the remaining matches. The Men in Blue face Bangladesh in a Super Four tie tomorrow.
