Mohammed Shami becomes a victim of religious trolls
Indian pacer, Mohammed Shami, has once again become a target of religious trolls. He was trolled for posting a picture of Shiva Linga, conveying his wishes to his followers on New Year's day. The speedster, who is currently in South Africa for the upcoming Test series, later removed his tweet once the Islamic hardliners started abusing him. Here's more about it!
Hardliners wish Shami's downfall
Certain hardliners, on Twitter, came down hard on the Indian pacer for posting something they think is not acceptable for people following Islam. Some lambasted the speedster calling him a hateful person, while others went on to warn him about the wrath of Allah. Twitterati even went on to claim that it was a publicity stunt.
Secularism comes at a cost
This is not the first time that Shami has become a target of religious trolls on social media. In the past, the Indian speedster was slammed for posting pictures of his daughter's birthday celebrations and also for posting pictures of his wife in western outfits. Former Indian cricketer, Mohammad Kaif, was also recently targeted for posting Christmas wishes.
Kaif paid the price of being secular
Cost of being secular
While many people have trolled Shami, one thing is for certain no religion is bigger than humanity. We are a country where secularism is preached, and a few self-righteous people on social media, who turn this into communal incidents, should not bother the Indian pacer. He should remain focused on the Test series in South Africa. We wish him all the best.
