Mohammad Siraj: News

In a country where cricket is life and blood and where kids play serious cricket from a young age, Mohammad Siraj was an anomaly. He started playing cricket around the age of 12. By Indian standards, most players who take cricket seriously start at the age of 16-18. Siraj, however, took cricket seriously only at the age of 21. Once he did, though, there was no looking back. Siraj made his first-class debut for Hyderabad against Services in 2015. He came into the limelight in the next season where he finished as Hyderabad's highest wicket with 41 wickets from nine Ranji Trophy matches. Siraj’s rise through the ranks was swift as he was soon bought by the Sunrisers Hyderabad for the 2017 IPL. His natural ability to swing the ball and generate bounce from the pitch soon made him someone to watch out for. Siraj made his international debut in a T20I match against New Zealand. A passionate figure on the ground, Siraj brought a much-needed intensity into the Indian bowling department with his antics on the pitch. His Test debut came against Australia in 2020 and he has been a regular in the Test side since then.
