Mohammad Amir impresses at Lord's
Mohammad Amir returned to Lord's after six years after serving a five year ban and jail for his involvement in spot fixing scandal in 2010. Pakistan beat England by 75 runs, with Amir taking three wickets in the match including Alastair Cook's in the first innings. On Amir's performance, Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq said, "It is a special moment for him."
Early life and debut
Mohammad Amir is a Pakistani left arm fast bowler. He was born on 13 April 1992 in Punjab, Pakistan. He made his international debut in 2009 at the age of 17. He became the youngest bowler to take 50 wickets in test cricket. Former Pakistani bowler Wasim Akram praised Amir saying that he had potential to be the lead bowler for Pakistan.
Impressive in T20
He made his T20 debut during the 2009 World T20 in England, playing every game of the tournament. He took wickets in six of the seven games, including wicket of Tillakaratne Dilshan in the first over of the final game against Sri Lanka.
Fixing allegations, suspension and ban
A English tabloid News of the World alleged that Mohammad Amir had deliberately bowled no balls during Pakistan's tour to England for a huge sum of money. After investigations, Amir was suspended on 2 September 2010 by the International Cricket Council(ICC). In February 2011, ICC panel handed Amir a five-year ban. Amir reportedly admitted guilty of spot fixing before a court in England.
Mohammad Amir jailed
Mohammad Amir was sentenced to six month jail time for his involvement in spot fixing scandal. He was, however, released after serving half of his sentence. Amir was also fined £9,389 as compensation towards prosecution costs.
Selected in Pakistan team for New Zealand tour
Amir was declared free and was allowed to play in all forms of cricket from 2nd September 2015. He returned to international cricket in 2016 for New Zealand tour. He then played for Pakistan in the 2016 Asia Cup in Dhaka, making waves once again by claiming top wickets against India. He was later selected in the test squad for Pakistan's tour to England.
