Last two India-Australia ODIs will not be shifted: BCCI
There were reports that suggested that the last two ODIs between India and Australia could be shifted out of Mohali and Delhi respectively due to increased tensions between India and Pakistan. But now the BCCI has confirmed that it has no plans to shift the matches despite tension across the international border. Here is more on the same.
What had the reports suggested earlier?
With security on high alert at India's north-west border, it was reported that the BCCI is looking at Lucknow and Rajkot as possible venues for the fourth ODI which was to be held in Mohali. A report in Mid-Day suggested that Saurashtra Cricket Association had applied to host the match if required. There were reports of shifting the game from Delhi as well.
'No such plan to shift any of the games'
The fourth ODI in Mohali is scheduled to be held on March 10. Meanwhile the fifth game in Delhi will be held on March 13. "There is certainly no such plan to shift any of the games from their original venues. I can confirm that both ODIs in Mohali and Delhi will happen as per schedule," said BCCI's acting president CK Khanna.
'BCCI always has alternate arrangements in terms of a venue'
Khanna confirmed that a change could be seen if a venue is unable to hold a match. "As far as a back up venue is concerned, the BCCI always has alternate arrangements in place in case a venue expresses its inability to hold a game. It was nice of Saurashtra to put their hand up but as of now, it will not be necessary."
India aim to do well in ODI series
Meanwhile, after suffering a 0-2 defeat against Australia in the two-match T20I series, India will be aiming to make a statement in the five-match ODI series. The first match is set to be played on Saturday in Hyderabad. India will hope to start strongly.
