Luka Modric picks his favorite to win the Ballon d'Or
Real Madrid mid-fielder and captain of the Croatian national team, Luka Modric, is the favorite to win the Ballon d'Or this term, breaking the decade-long dominance of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. However, during an interview with France Football, the humble magician refused to talk about his chances, and instead spoke about others he considers favorites. So who are Modric's favorites?
Modric hails Griezmann and Mbappe for the win
Modric feels Antoine Griezmann was phenomenal in the previous season, "I would put Antoine Griezmann in pole position in terms of the three Frenchmen, for all he has achieved this year." He has also hailed youngster Kylian Mbappe as a serious talent, saying that he "is a wonderful promise for the future but who has already displayed a great level. He's really special."
Modric is the favorite to bag football's top individual honor
However hard he might try to keep the focus away from himself, Modric cannot deny that he is the clear favorite to win the Ballon d'Or. He has already bagged the UEFA Player of The Year and FIFA's The Best Male Player of 2018 awards. His trophies came after taking Croatia to the World Cup final and winning the Champions League with Real Madrid.
Modric agrees 2018 has been the best season for him
Modric said, "I do not like to talk that way and say, 'Yes, I deserve the Golden Ball'. The important thing for me is to be in the field as I have been for months." He agreed 2017-18 was the best season of his career.
