Is Mo Salah's Liverpool stint coming to an end?
Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah has found many admirers after a prolific season for the Reds. There are reports stating that the 'Egyptian King' could be on his way to Spanish champions Barcelona. The Catalan giants want Salah to be their marquee signing of the summer as it looks unlikely that they will get Antoine Griezmann from Atletico. Here's more!
Salah was phenomenal for the Reds in 2017-18
The player arrived from AS Roma for a fee of £35 million last summer and stole the show in a career-defining season where he guided the team to the final of the Champions League. Salah scored a total of 44 goals in the campaign across all competitions. He also hit 32 in the Premier League and bagged the PFA Player of the Year award.
What are the reports claiming?
As per reports by several European media houses, Salah could seal a shock move to Barca as the Spanish giants have got in touch with the player's representatives. The player is believed to have a £150 mn price tag, and Barcelona are willing to break the bank once again. Other reports claim that Real Madrid are interested in the Egyptian as well.
Barca want Salah as a back-up option?
Antoine Griezmann has governed Barca's transfer window with speculations linking him with a move for quite some time. Even the likes of Suarez and Messi went on to praise the Frenchman and said they would welcome him. But the chances of him signing a deal appear bleak as Atletico are determined to not let him go. This has forced Barca to switch plans.
What's the situation with Liverpool?
Jurgen Klopp is adamant on not letting the player go after just one season with the club. But it all depends on what Salah wants. Klopp couldn't retain Coutinho last season and a massive deal for Salah would test the management. Reports claim that Liverpool are interested in Fekir and could lose the 'Salah' race.
Our take on the episode
It is unlikely that Salah will leave Liverpool after just one season. The Egyptian likes the Premier League and has developed into a better player under Klopp. He will hope to win a major trophy for Reds in 2018-19.
