Here's how much top Liverpool players earn each week
With oil money getting pumped into football, we are witnessing hyperinflation in the transfer market. Millions are being paid to acquire the services of players. Last year, Neymar was bought by Paris-Saint Germain for a staggering sum of £198m. This, in turn, has also led to a steep jump in the weekly-wages of footballers. Today, we look at the salary of Liverpool players.
Ox, Keita earn £120,000 a week at Anfield
Liverpool spooned a staggering £34.2m for Arsenal's Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in 2017. The England international was also being chased by Premier League rivals Chelsea. He decided to join Jurgen Klopp's side after agreeing a weekly wage of £120,000 to make him one of the highest earners at Anfield. Mid-fielder Naby Keita, too, earns the same amount. The Reds paid £50m+ for his services.
Brazilian Fabinho third highest earner
Liverpool shelled out a massive £39.3m for Brazilian mid-fielder Fabinho. The former Monaco player is a hardworking defensive mid-fielder, who is strong on the ball. His rise has been phenomenal. He is currently drawing £130,000-per-week and earlier he used to earn only €49,000 (£440,000) at the French club. Fabinho adds depth to the side and will vie for a place alongside Jordan Henderson.
What about the world's costliest defender Virgil van Dijk?
Dutchman Virgil van Dijk became the costliest defender in the world when he moved from Southampton to Liverpool in January 2018. The tall and commanding centre-back joined for £70m. Since then, he has put in a commendable show at the back. He is currently on a weekly wage of £180,000-per-week. He got £35,000 more than what he pocketed at Southampton.
Egyptian Salah on top of the wage bill
Mohamed Salah is raking in the highest sum among all players at Liverpool. The 2017-18 EPL Golden Boot winner, undoubtedly, has cashed in on his form. His exploits across all competitions, last season, sees him getting £200,000-per-week. He arrived at Liverpool last year from Roma. Salah is also one of the highest paid players in the league.
