IPL 2018: Mitchell Santner ruled out of cash rich league
New Zealand left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner has been ruled out of the game for up to nine months due a knee surgery. The in-form player, who has been in prime touch with both bat and ball, is set to miss the upcoming Test series at home against England this month. He will also miss out on the Indian Premier League 2018.
Knee issues crept up in ODI series
Mitchell Santner suffered knee discomfort in the recently concluded ODI series against England, which the Kiwis lost 2-3. A defect in bone after scans meant that the player's situation deteriorated further. Post scans, it was revealed that he would miss up to nine months of action. NZ coach Mike Hesson stated this is a big blow given the player's skills and popularity.

Santner was bought by two-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings for IPL 2018 season. The team has in turn been dealt with a big blow in their famed spin department. He was purchased for Rs 50 lakh during the auction. The all-rounder had expressed his desire to bowl to MS Dhoni at the nets and be a part of the CSK family.
