RR beat MI to strengthen their playoff chances
Royals beat Mumbai by 7 wickets to boost their playoff chances and go level on points with Kings XI Punjab and Kolkata Knight Riders. Rahane put the MI to bat first and restricted them to 168/6. In response, Buttler continued the form of his life as he blazed to a 53 ball 94 to seal the win for Rajasthan. Here's our match report.
Mumbai India's middle order let them down
Evin Lewis and Suryakumar Yadav gave the hosts a brilliant start stitching an 87 run partnership for the first wicket. However, Suryakumar Yadav's dismissal opened the floodgates as Mumbai lost wickets at regular intervals. Mumbai Indians had to then rely on Hardik Pandya's 36 off 21 to take them to a decent total of 168 for 6.
Buttler blitz sees RR through
Mumbai Indians started their defense well by dismissing D'Arcy Short early but Jos Buttler steadied the ship for Royals. Buttler brought his A game to the Wankhede and scored an unbeaten 94 to see Rajasthan through.
CSK qualify for yet another IPL play off
Rajasthan's victory means CSK have now qualified for the playoffs. CSK are the only team to qualify for the playoffs in every IPL they have played. With 473 runs to his name, Suryakumar Yadav now holds the record for most runs scored in an IPL season by an uncapped Indian player. Suryakumar Yadav surpassed Paul Valthaty's tally of 463 runs in 2011.
Buttler is in the form of his life
Jos Buttler's scored his fifth-consecutive half-century in this IPL. Virender Sehwag is the only other batsman to have achieved this feat. Pakistan's Kamran Akmal and Zimbabwe's Hamilton Masakadza are the only other batsmen to have achieved this feat across other leagues. Jos Buttler is now the 5th batsman to score 500 plus runs in this IPL.
Rohit Sharma's string of poor scores continues
Yet another duck for Rohit Sharma in the IPL this season. Rohit now has 12 ducks in the IPL. Only Harbhajan Singh has more with 13 to his name.
