Mumbai Indians beat KXIP to stay in the hunt
Mumbai Indians overcame Kings XI Punjab in a thrilling contest to seal their sixth victory of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018. With this win, MI climbed to fourth in the table and stay in the hunt for the play-offs. KXIP slipped to fifth after another loss under their belt. KL Rahul's 94-run knock wasn't enough as MI (186/8) won by three runs.
Bumrah rises to the challenge
Jasprit Bumrah needs to be praised for the way he orchestrated Mumbai's victory. He got the key wicket of Rahul in 19th over with a slower ball and gave away just six runs in that crucial over to finish with figures of 3/15.
Tye, Rahul show their character
KXIP duo Andrew Tye and KL Rahul hold the Purple and Orange Caps respectively. Tye once again was superb and gave away just 16 runs in four overs and picked four wickets. He has now reached 24 wickets in IPL 2018. KL Rahul became the first batsman to cross 600+ runs this IPL (652). He overtook Delhi's Rishabh Pant (582).
Rahul keeps doing wonders in IPL 2018
KL Rahul brought up his fifty off 36 balls and this was his sixth in IPL11. He is only behind Williamson (7) in terms of 50+ scores. Rahul overcame Pant for the most fours hit (65). Further, he has also slammed the most sixes (32).
MI gain control in overall meetings
With MI's victory, they improved the head-to-head record to 12-10. This was 22nd meeting between these two sides in IPL. At the Wankhede, MI took their record to 4-4 in eight encounters between the two teams. When the two sides met earlier this season, MI had won and now with this win, they inflicted the double over their opponents.

MI opener Suryakumar Yadav became the first uncapped Indian player to score over 500 runs in an IPL season. In the power-play, Tye gave away just 5 runs in 2 overs and picked 3 wickets. The rest of KXIP bowlers gave away 55 runs in four overs. Tye became the first bowler in IPL history to take three four-wicket hauls in a single season.
