IPL: DD defeat MI, who is the winner and sinner?
Delhi Daredevils chased a mammoth 195-run target at the Wankhede against Mumbai Indians and registered their first victory of IPL 2018 season. Jason Roy smashed an unbeaten 91 runs to help DD achieve this monumental victory. Earlier, MI were looking to get well past 220-run mark, but could only manage 194/7. Here we analyze the winner and sinner of the match.
Jason Roy is winner of the game
England's whirlwind batsman Jason Roy marked his announcement with a brilliant match-winning 91* run-knock to see his side get past the line. Roy replaced Colin Munro in the team and justified his selection in the team. He blasted the bowlers all around the park. He had his fair share of luck, and made the most out of it. His boundary scoring shots were magnificent.
Hardik Pandya is sinner of the game
Hardik Pandya did not have the day he would have liked. With the bat, he scored just two runs off three balls and his attempted heave found the fielder in deep mid-wicket. He got out at a crucial moment with MI faltering in the death overs. He also gave away 32 runs in his two overs in the powerplay.
Numbers game - MI vs DD
MI scored 84 runs in the power play. This, in turn, is the side's highest ever score in the first six overs. In the last 27 balls of the first innings, MI managed just 28/5. They were at 166/2 in 15.3 overs prior to that.
