IPL 2019 final: Rohit Sharma unfazed by most successful tag
Rohit Sharma led-Mumbai Indians face Indian Premier League's most consistent side Chennai Super Kings in the final of the 12th edition later tonight. Both teams have won three IPL trophies each and are looking to earn a fourth one. It's going to be a stern contest. Ahead of the final, Rohit has given his views. Here's more.
'Both teams are very much aware of the conditions'
The IPL 2019 final is scheduled to start at 7:30 PM IST. The match is being played in Hyderabad. Rohit stated that both teams know what to expect. "Both teams have played here so they are very much aware of the conditions. It is not going to be a major factor. Important will be to assess the pitch as quickly as we can."
Rohit wants his side to focus on the day
MI have reached three finals earlier and they have won all of them. They have the chance on Sunday to surpass CSK in terms of titles won. "All those things will take care of themselves if we play good cricket. We need to focus on the day rather than thinking about the past. The focus will be on how we can play better cricket."
'Tag of most successful team doesn't matter to us'
"It is a special feeling to be playing the final but like I said the most successful team [tag] doesn't matter for us. Yes every now and then we have spoken to the guys about not being too emotional thinking about the play-offs," he said.
MI hope to beat CSK for the fourth time
MI have beaten CSK in all the three games this season and will want to have a 100% record. They also beat them twice in finals. Rohit feels there is a lot riding on both sides. "There is a lot of hype around the two teams and it is because they have been successful in winning the championship, everyone looks forward to the clash."
