India started off well as they bundled up the Englishmen for 198 runs with Zaheer Khan picking 4 wickets. India's batsmen put in a power-packed performance in their 1st innings with DK, Tendulkar, Ganguly, Jaffer and Laxman each scoring 50+ runs. England fought back courtesy of a 124-run knock by Vaughan, but India eased up a mere 73 runs required for the win.

This Test was scheduled right after the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. England led the match for 3 1/2 days before India snatched up a dramatic win owing to a Sachin Tendulkar master-class. India managed to chase down 387 runs in their 2nd innings, a Herculean task, that too in Chennai where their previous successful chase was 155. Tendulkar dedicated his innings to the terror victims.
