Bumrah and Bhuvi will shine in England says Aussie legend
Australian pace legend Glenn McGrath has backed Indian pace duo Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah to excel in English conditions. This comes as a major boost since Indian bowlers have usually struggled, in the past, on the overseas tours. India are scheduled to tour England in July for 3 T20Is and ODIs, which will be followed by 5 Test matches.
This is what McGrath said about Indian bowlers
"Bhuvi and Bumrah. They have got pretty good control. That's what you need, especially in England. The Duke ball has a pronounced seam. If you get the ball in the right areas consistently, then you are going to do well" McGrath said.
Bumrah will enjoy bowling with the Duke ball, believes McGrath
Bumrah made his Test debut against South Africa earlier this year. He was exceptional in that series. McGrath believes he can create problems for the English batsmen because of the length he bowls. Since the Duke ball would be used in England, Bumrah and Bhuvi are expected to extract swing out of it. However, Aussie legend said that India's batting remains a concern.
Kohli will have to banish his demons in England
India are heavily reliant on Kohli to score runs. We saw the same in South Africa as well. However, India's main worry would be Kohli's record in England. Virat has played 5 Tests matches in the home of the Three Lions. He averages only 13.40, scoring just 134 runs at a strike rate of 46.52. His highest Test score, in England, is 39.
McGrath excited about Kohli vs Anderson contest
"Kohli is a more experienced player now. Quality player, no doubt about that. But English conditions are very tough. When you have got a bowler like Jimmy Anderson, who is bowling well now, it is going to be hard work," the Aussie said.
Jimmy Anderson will be England's most potent weapon
England's red ball specialist James Anderson knows really well how to extract swing on home pitches. Virat Kohli has had troubles in swinging conditions and Anderson would be key to dismissing the Indian captain. He is at his lethal best on English soil. He has picked 344 out of his 540 wickets at home.
India to tour UK from June end to September
India's tour of UK commences with two T20Is against Ireland on June 27 and 29. This will be followed by three T20Is against Morgan's men on 3rd, 6th and 8th of July. The focus will then shift to three ODIs at Trent Bridge, Lord's and Headingley. India tour will conclude with the 5-match Test series which will begin in August.
