Brendon McCullum deciphers the difference between CSK and RCB
There is absolute uncertainty regarding the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic. Current Kolkata Knight Riders coach Brendon McCullum, who has represented both Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore previously in the tournament, decoded the difference between their attributes. Here is what the former Kiwi skipper pointed out.
CSK have selection loyalty, feels McCullum
"One team gives selection loyalty and works on the team they have; the other chases a perfect team and doesn't have a blueprint for how they are going to play. CSK has very little white noise around them. RCB have too much," McCullum said.
CSK have won the IPL title thrice
The three-time IPL winners Chennai Super Kings have had a perfect campaign since their return from the two-year ban. Despite being deemed 'daddy's army', the Dhoni-led side completely owned the 2018 edition. They were later crowned champions. CSK replicated the magnificent run in the following season as well, but lost a high-voltage final to Mumbai Indians by mere one run.
RCB haven't reached the top four since 2016
The plight of Royal Challengers Bangalore have not really improved since the ninth season. RCB had a delightful campaign in 2016 wherein they dominated almost every team. Although they lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final, skipper Virat Kohli's record 973 runs and four tons left a colossal mark. However, the Bangalore-based franchise haven't reached the playoffs since that edition.
Albie Morkel highlighted Dhoni's impact on CSK
Earlier, former South African player Albie Morkel heaped praise on MS Dhoni for his role as a captain. "He plays a big role. He is one of the best T20 and white-ball players," Morkel said. He added, "If you get him as a leader, it is going to bring success as he knows how to get the best out of his players."
