Mayank Yadav begins bowling at BCCI CoE, eyes IPL return
What's the story
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) fast bowler Mayank Yadav has returned to bowling at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
The development comes as he gears up for the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025).
The 22-year-old has been under rehabilitation since November 2024 following an injury.
His return timeline still remains unclear as LSG awaits him to regain full fitness.
Comeback
Mayank Yadav shows progress in recovery
Yadav's recovery process has made a lot of progress with the young speedster now bowling in the nets.
A video shared on his Instagram story shows him bowling under a coach's supervision with a shortened run-up and light intensity.
Mayank is doing well in practice sessions and showing match readiness, according to Sports Tak.
However, LSG are waiting for clearance from the Centre of Excellence to allow him to rejoin their squad for IPL 2025.
Anticipated return
Mayank Yadav's potential return dates and previous performance
The expected return dates for Mayank Yadav to rejoin the LSG squad are April 11 or 12. This would mean he misses at least the first seven matches of his team in IPL 2025.
During IPL 2024, he drew attention for his speed and bagged back-to-back Player of the Match awards in his first two games against Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
However, owing to recurring injuries, he could only play four matches that season.

InvestmentĀ
LSG's significant investment in Mayank YadavĀ
LSG had earlier retained Yadav for ā¹11 crore before the mega auction, a huge jump from his previous price of ā¹20 lakh before the 2024 season.
The huge amount was mainly because of his ability to bowl consistently at breakneck speeds of over 150kph.
He was later added by national selectors to the pool of quicks given fast-bowling contracts.
Yadav also made his T20I debut in October last year.
