Chelsea are in a celebration mode following their UEFA Europa League win on Thursday. In what was their second Europa League title, it was also being tipped as manager Maurizio Sarri's final game for the Blues, with a move to Juventus looming large. Ahead of his rumored move, he has informed the club about his future with the club as we take a look.
Sarri wants to leave Chelsea in order to manage Juventus
As per the incoming reports, Sarri has told Chelsea that he is willing to leave after just a season to go back home and manage Italian champions Juventus. Club director Marina Granovskaia is also looking to have a word with club owner Roman Abramovich regarding his future, while they would also look to seek compensation from any suitor.
Sarri achieved success with Chelsea
Sarri joined Chelsea last summer as he replaced Antonio Conte. Since then, he managed the side in 63 games, winning 39 and losing just 11, while his winning percentage is 61.90. He also enjoyed a 12-game unbeaten run with them in the English Premier League. However, he faced backlash from Chelsea fans over his tactics, despite a third-place EPL finish.
I am lucky because I am at Chelsea: Sarri
"You know very well that I love the Premier League, the level of the competition, and I am lucky because I am at Chelsea, one of the best teams in the best championship in the world," an ecstatic Sarri said post Europa League win.
Sarri wondering if Chelsea are happy with his performance
Although Sarri has expressed his happiness working with the club, he is eager to know if the club is happy with his overall performance. "So at the moment I am happy, but of course I want to know if the club is happy. It is normal I think; I have a discussion with the owner after every season with every club," he asserted.
Frank Lampard tipped to be Sarri's replacement
While it is unsure as to if Sarri would continue with the club, Chelsea have already started looking for potential replacements. As per reports, former Chelsea and England mid-fielder Fran Lampard has been tipped as his replacement. However, whoever comes in next would have a grave task at hand to manage the club, as they are facing transfer ban next season.
