Matt Doherty is an Irish right-back footballer who plays for several football clubs and the Republic of Ireland. He was signed by Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club, also known as Wolves, in 2010. Between 2010 and 2020, Doherty played 302 matches for the club. In 2011, he made his debut in The Football Association Challenge Cup (FA Cup) and the Premier League for Wolves. In 2012, Doherty made his debut in the Scottish Cup. Between 2010 and 2020, Doherty was loaned out to Hibernian Football Club or Hibs and Bury Football Club. In 2018, Doherty scored the first Premier League goal for Wolves, after the club’s absence for six years in the league. In 2019, he made his debut in the UEFA Europa League competition and scored the first goal for Wolves in the competition. He made his debut for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club on September 13, 2020. He made his debut as a senior player for the Republic of Ireland in 2016 against Switzerland and Slovakia. In November 2020, he tested positive for COVID-19 after the game against Wales at the Cardiff City Stadium.
