BCCI wants Asia Cup organizers to reschedule India-Pakistan encounter
After more than a year, Virat Kohli-led India are set to lock horns with Pakistan, on a cricket ground, in the 2018 Asia Cup. The arch-rivals are pitted against each other in Group A of the biennial tournament. However, the BCCI wants the organizers to reschedule the high-octane fixture. As per the current schedule, the match is slated to take place on September 19.
Back to back matches has made BCCI unhappy
As per a report, a BCCI official has lamented that since India will be playing against the qualifying side on September 18, the decision to have the India-Pakistan match the next day makes no sense at all. The official lashed out at the organizers and also pointed out the fact that Pakistan will be fresh since they have a two-day off in that period.
A change in state
With BCCI set to pressurize the organizers, the match is likely to be rescheduled. Since it's the mother of all battles, both the teams should be given an equal number of rest days before taking on each other.
Both teams could also meet in Super 4
It remains to be seen what the organizers opt for and which date is finalized. The two teams could also meet in Super 4. The last time, these two sides had met, was in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 final, and Kohli's boys were thrashed by Pakistan. Pakistan had also defeated India by one wicket in the 2014 Asia Cup in Dhaka.
