Mary Kom's World Championships campaign ends with historic 8th medal
What's the story
India's ace women's boxer M C Mary Kom will take home the bronze medal at the Women's World Championships in Russia's Ulan-Ude.
The veteran lost her semi-final bout against second seed Busenaz Cakiroglu.
European champion Cakiroglu was judged to have won the bout 4-1 which ended Kom's hope of going for the illustrious gold.

Appeal turned down
India's appeal turned down by technical committee
According to ANI, India had appealed against the referee's decision which stated that Cakiroglu defeated Kom.
India had raised a Yellow Card but as per AIBA's instruction in Team meeting earlier on Saturday; it was informed that protests will be granted only if scores read 3:2/3:1.
Therefore, the appeal was turned down and the Yellow Card was not accepted by the technical committee.

Meanwhile, several other Indians are in fray today.
The likes of Lovlina Borgohain (69kg), Jamuna Boro (54kg) and Manju Rani (48kg) will all look to reach the finals in India's best-ever overseas performance the World Championships.
India have sealed four medals in the event and now one will hope these three can add more gloss by reaching the finale for the bigger prize.

Mary became the first boxer to claim eight world medals
The veteran Mary became the first boxer in the history of World Championships to win eight world meet medals.
She was tied on seven with Cuban men's legend Felix Savon after winning the gold in the 48kg category last year.
This is also her first World Championships medal in the 51kg category.
Mary has six gold medals and a silver at the World Championships.

She has bagged six Asian Championships medals till now including five golds.
Mary also won a gold at the Commonwealth Games in 2018, besides two Asian Games medals (2010 and 2014).
The 2012 London Olympics bronze medalist has also bagged a gold in the Asian Indoor Games in 2009.
