Sadio Mane pens a new 5-year contract with Liverpool
After a lot of stalling, Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has signed a long-term deal with the club. The 26-year-old Senegalese signed a 5-year deal with Liverpool when his present contract still had 2.5 years to go. He had joined Liverpool from Southampton for a fee of £34 million in 2016. He has already made himself one of the most important members of Klopp's squad.
How has Mane been performing at Liverpool?
The Liverpool number 10 is one of the most dependable players in Klopp's squad. Given his high work-rate which can match the intensity of Klopp's game, it is great that Liverpool have been able to hold him back. Along with Firmino and Salah, Mane is a part of the deadly attacking trio that has been breaching the best of defenses in England and Europe.

"It is a great day for me and now I am looking forward to everything - to helping the team, to helping the club achieve our dreams and, especially, to win trophies", said Mane after signing the new contract. He added that when he got a chance to play for Liverpool, he did not hesitate, and believes Liverpool is the right club for him.

In his debut season with the Reds, Mane was voted Liverpool's Player of The Year and Players' Player of the Year. He was a prolific scorer last season, scoring overall 20 and 10 UCL goals. Mane's goal-scoring record with Liverpool reads 40 goals from 89 appearances. In 2017, he was one of top three nominees of the CAF African Player of the Year award.
