New contract on the cards for Jose Mourinho
Manchester United are closing in on a new deal with manager, Jose Mourinho as per reports. The Red Devils are looking to tie down the Portuguese mastermind until 2021. PSG speculations alert United's top brass
Speculation was rife that Jose Mourinho was set to move to PSG in the summer, after Manchester United refused to give the Portuguese the war chest he demanded to get his transfer targets. Mourinho continues to live in a hotel since his arrival in Manchester and refuses to move out, which added more fuel to the speculation.
United have a new spring of life under Mourinho
Mourinho, who took charge of the red side of Manchester in 2016, signed a 3-year deal on his arrival. The contract keeps him at the helm of affairs at the club till June 2019. In his debut season, United finished 6th in the Premier League but qualified for the Champions League after winning the Europa League and the League Cup.
Managers have failed to replicate Sir Alex Ferguson's success
Manchester United, which is one the biggest football clubs across the globe, have seen their fortunes dwindle since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson. David Moyes was appointed his successor, but he was miserable at the club. Louis van Gaal was brought in to replace Moyes and he too failed to revive the club to its glory.
United are hoping for the best
Currently, Manchester United sit 12 points behind Manchester City in the Premier League and are also alive in the Champions League and the FA Cup. If United remain on second position, at the end of the season it would be their highest finish since the 20th title triumph in May 2013 during Sir Alex Ferguson's last season as the manager.
