Griezmann to Barca? Well Suarez thinks so!
Barcelona superstar Luis Suarez has hinted at the possibility of Atletico talisman Antoine Griezmann joining the Catalan giants in the summer. Griezmann, who has a contract with Atletico till 2022, could be offered a huge deal in order to lure him to Barca. The versatile forward could bolster the attack of La Liga champions, who boast of a plethora of attacking players.
What has Suarez said about Griezmann?
Griezmann has been linked with a move to Barca in recent past and Suarez just added more fire to the rumours. According to reports, Suarez stated that Griezmann is coming to Barca not to take the place of anyone but to add more depth. He also praised the forward for his time at Atletico as a leading talisman.
But where will Griezmann play?
Barca have the likes of Lionel Messi and Suarez as obvious choices. Blockbuster deals involving Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho took place as well. So Griezmann's coming could then limit both Dembele and Coutinho's time on the pitch in a 4-3-3 formation that the Catalans prefer. One way in which Griezmann could fit is a 4-2-3-1 formation playing behind Suarez.
From United to Barca, Griezmann's destination changes
Griezmann was linked with a move to Manchester United last summer but the move collapsed when Atletico's transfer ban was upheld until January 2018. Griezmann stayed on for the sake of the club and signed a new deal and once again enjoyed a satisfying season. With United not believed to be going for him anymore, this is an open opportunity for Barcelona.
Will he make the move?
Suarez stated that Griezmann wants titles with Barca, but given the playing situation there and with his current club having a chance of winning the Europa League title, he could be tempted to stay back. He has enjoyed his time under Diego Simeone.
