Pooran and Badoni register LSG's highest 5th-wicket stand in IPL
Nicholas Pooran and Ayush Badoni shared a superb 99*-run stand against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 57 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. Badoni joined Pooran in the middle when Lucknow Super Giants lost Krunal Pandya with the score reading 66/4 in 11.2 overs. The duo's brilliance helped LSG get to a respectable score. However, this wasn't enough as SRH (167/0) won.
A fighting effort from the two LSG batters
LSG were off to a slow start and losing wickets at key junctures hurt their cause. The wicket was pretty slow and the two players took the match until the end to provide their team with something. The two batters showed positive intent right from the start. Badoni finished with a half-century as Pooran missed out, scoring an unbeaten 48.
Badoni hits his 4th IPL fifty, Pooran shines
Badoni managed 55* from 30 balls (4s: 9). He struck at 183.33. The youngster has surpassed 600 IPL runs (606) at 24.24. He smashed his 4th IPL fifty (SR: 133.48). Pooran managed 48* from 26 balls (4s: 6, 6s: 1). He has raced to 1,633 IPL runs at 30.81 (SR: 157.93). In the ongoing season, Pooran has scored 363 runs at 60.50 (SR: 162.05).
Partnership records for the duo
As per ESPNcricinfo, the 99*-run stand between the two is now LSG's highest tally for the fifth wicket in IPL history. The previous-best record was an 87-run stand between Deepak Hooda and Badoni versus GT in IPL 2022. This is also the 4th-best stand for LSG (any wicket) in the competition. It's also their best stand against SRH in the IPL.
Badoni keeps shining with crucial stands
This was LSG's eighth 50+ partnership for the fifth wicket or below in IPL. Notably, Badoni is part of five such partnerships. This was Pooran and Badoni's third 50-plus stand after 74 versus KKR in Kolkata and 59 versus CSK in Lucknow.
