IPL: Here are lopsided player battles with no dismissals
The Indian Premier League (IPL) has produced some exhilarating player rivalries over the years. With each passing season, the battles keep on getting intense. While some battles offer a fair balance between bat and ball, others make either the batter or bowler look invincible. Here we decode some prominent player rivalries in the IPL where batters rule the roost.
AB de Villiers vs Lasith Malinga
Lasith Malinga's searing yorkers combined with a slingy action made waves in the IPL. Years after retiring, he still has the best average (among bowlers with 150+ wickets). However, he couldn't dominate AB de Villiers, one of the most fearsome batters in the IPL. De Villiers smashed Malinga for 124 runs off 61 balls without getting dismissed (SR: 203.27).
David Warner vs Ravindra Jadeja
Both David Warner and Ravindra Jadeja are veterans of the cash-rich league. While Warner's blazing starts made him stand out, Jadeja has a knack for picking wickets at crucial junctures. However, the left-arm spinner hasn't managed to uproot Warner even once in the IPL. The latter has scored 116 runs off 66 balls in this battle (SR: 175.75).
Suryakumar Yadav vs Ravichandran Ashwin
Hailed for his 360-degreee shots with the bat, Suryakumar Yadav has been a boon for Mumbai Indians and nightmare for bowlers in T20 cricket. He has the ability to dispatch the ball to every part of the ground. Ravichandran Ashwin, India's most successful Test off-spinner, hasn't dismissed SKY in the IPL. The latter has struck at 145.56 against Ashwin (115 off 79 balls).
Shikhar Dhawan vs Mohammed Shami
Shikhar Dhawan is known to hit boundaries consistently in the Powerplay in T20 cricket. The left-hander is the only player to have struck over 700 IPL fours. Mohammed Shami, who fares well in this phase with the ball, is yet to dismiss Dhawan in this regard. Dhawan strikes at 148.68 against Shami, having scored 113 off 76 balls.
