Besiktas jump the gun on Loris Karius loan deal
Turkish club Besiktas, mistakenly, confirmed the loan signing of Liverpool keeper Loris Karius on social media platform Twitter, before deleting the post quickly. The club had posted Karius with a Besiktas jersey with the words 'Loris Karius #CometoBesiktas'. But the graphic was hastily done away with. Although it has now been learnt that a two-year loan deal has been agreed with Liverpool.
When Besiktas jumped the gun
Know about the 2-year loan deal
Karius to Besiktas is expected to be announced shortly. According to Sky Sports, a two-year loan costing £1.25 mn per year has been chalked out. Further, an extra fee of £1.79 mn has been agreed at the deal's conclusion. Karius had to make way after Liverpool signed Brazilian number one Alisson from AS Roma, who started the first two Premier League games.
UCL finale blunder forced Reds to look elsewhere
Karius was expected to do great things at Liverpool after dethroning Simon Mignolet as the number one custodian under Jurgen Klopp. But he spilled his chance after a disastrous show in the UEFA Champions League final against Real Madrid. Two howlers cost Liverpool the tie. The performances ruffled him up as in the pre-season too, he looked out of form.
Karius will be eager to have an impact in Turkey
The former Mainz goal-keeper played a total of 49 matches for the Reds so far. He appeared 33 times for the club last season. He is now set to join the Turkish giants and will be hoping to make an impact there. Besiktas sold their keeper Fabri to Premier League outfit Fulham earlier this month. Therefore, Karius goes there as their number one player.
