Sporting calendar for the month of June 2018
The summer heat may be dying due to monsoon, but the action in the world of sports will intensify this June. Some of the biggest events will take place in the month of June. The FIFA World Cup, Canadian Grand Prix and the French Open are some carnivals scheduled this month. Here is the list of tournaments lined up in June 2018.
Afghanistan to make their Test debut
The cricket calendar is packed with plenty of action. Afghanistan will be up against Bangladesh in three T20 Internationals while England host Australia for 5 ODIs. Afghans will make history when they play their first-ever Test against India in Bengaluru. The men in blue will then take on Ireland in two T20 internationals. Finally, Sri Lanka will tour the West Indies for 3 Tests.
2018 FIFA World Cup
The Football season might have come to an end but the 2018 FIFA World Cup is here. Football's premier tournament will kick off on June 14 with hosts Russia taking on Saudi Arabia. Apart from the FIFA World Cup, there is plenty of action to watch out for in the transfer market. The World Cup could drive the transfer fees of players.
French Open finale
The clay court season draws to a close in June with the French Open final scheduled to be played on June 9 and 10. The grass court season will begin with Stuttgart Open in Germany. This will be followed by the Fever-Tree Championships in London from June 18, the Gerry Weber Open in Germany and the Antalya Open in Turkey.
Canadian and French Grand Prix
Formula One will head to Montreal for the Canadian Grand Prix on June 10. After Canada, the action will move to France at the Gilles Villeneuve circuit on June 24.
