Lionel Messi wants to achieve two more things: Details here
One of the GOATs of football, Lionel Messi has more or less achieved everything with his club Barcelona. He has also won a number of accolades including five Ballon d'Ors. However, he is yet to win a major silverware for his country, Argentina. In a candid admission, the Little Magician opened up about two things he wants to achieve even now.
International success has eluded Messi
As said above, he has not enjoyed the same success at the international level. Having played five international finals with Argentina, he has managed to win just one to date, the 2008 Olympic Gold. However, he is yet to lift the World Cup or Copa America. He has played three Copa America finals and one World Cup final, but failed to win even one.
Messi hungry for success with Argentina
"I want to finish my career and win something with the national team or try as many times as possible, not to be left with people who did not want me or bad comments towards me," Messi was quoted as saying to Fox Sports Argentina.
Messi wants to finish career at Newell's Old Boys
Notably, prior to Messi's arrival and success with Barcelona, he was with his hometown club Newell's Old Boys. While he did not play in their senior team, it is where he started his career. Messi, thus, expressed his desire to return to Newell's. "I still have to play in Newell's, but I do not know if it will happen," he wondered.
Messi recalls his dream to play in Newell's stadium
"My dream was always to be a soccer player, to reach the First Division. I was in Newell's, I was going to the pitch and my dream was to play in the stadium and live that. But, life took me elsewhere," Messi added.
