Messi says no to the new contract
Argentina superstar Lionel Messi has reportedly decided against renewing his contract with Barcelona. Apparently, the 5-time Ballon d'Or winner has informed the Catalan club that he has 'no intentions' of signing the new contract. The Barcelona board is already getting a lot of heat from the fans the way it handled the summer transfers and this news couldn't have come at a worse time.
Manchester City, PSG keeping a tab on proceedings
Messi's current contract runs out at the end of this season. He is yet to sign a contract extension and for some time now, there have been rumours of his imminent departure. Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly keeping a close tab on him while a move back to his childhood club Newell's Old Boys can't also be ruled out.
Barcelona facing dark times ahead
Barcelona endured a tough season in which they failed to secure any major titles. Then, with Neymar's departure in the summer, they faced a huge blow. Now, if Messi leaves - and that too, for free- then it poses a serious problem for the management and the board. Moreover, if he leave, the team would never be the same.
