India move to second spot in the ICC T20I rankings
Following their emphatic 3-0 series win against Sri Lanka, India are ranked number 2 in the latest ICC T20I rankings, moving up 3 places from fifth spot. With 124 rating points, Pakistan top the list in the shortest format, followed closely by India (121). Other teams in the top 5 include West Indies (120), New Zealand (120), and England (119).
Aaron Finch gains from Kohli's loss in batting rankings
Australian opener, Aaron Finch, moved up a place to become the top-ranked T20I batsman replacing Virat Kohli, who dropped to third place, after missing the recently concluded series owing to personal commitments. West Indies batsman Evin Lewis, also moved up a place to second spot. KL Rahul gained remarkably moving on to fourth position, with Kiwi captain Kane Williamson occupying the fifth place.
How did Kohli drop points?
According to the T20I ratings, a player loses 2% of their points for each T20I match missed. Thus, Kohli, who missed matches against Sri Lanka, saw his points reduced from 824 to 776.
Pak's Imad Wasim tops the bowling rankings
Pakistan's left-arm spinner, Imad Wasim, is the top-ranked bowler while Jasprit Bumrah, who missed the India's last T20I match, fell to third place after going wicket-less in the first two matches of the series. Afghanistan's Rashid Khan moved to his career best second spot. Shakib Al Hasan continues to be top all-rounder, followed by Glen Maxwell and Afghan's Mohammad Nabi.
Indian players with substantial gains
Apart from Rahul who improved 23 places, Rohit Sharma moved up six slots to reach 14th place in batting rankings. Bowlers Yuzvendra Chahal (+14 places to 16th rank), Hardik Pandya (+40 places to joint 39th), and Kuldeep Yadav (+48 places to 64th) made big gains.
