Sangakkara is the third-highest run-scorer in World Cup history. He amassed 1,532 runs at 56.74. He is the leading run-getter for the Lankans in World Cup history. Sanga amassed five World Cup tons and is tied with Australian ace Ricky Ponting. Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma (6 each) lead the show. He holds the record of most consecutive hundreds in a World Cup (4).

Sanga is the second-highest run-scorer in ODI cricket (14,234). He slammed 25 tons and 93 fifties. Sanga has the second-most fifties in ODIs after Tendulkar (96). The left-handed batsman is also the sixth-highest run-scorer in Test cricket (12,400). Notably, he is the leading run-scorer for Lanka in both Tests and ODIs. He has the second-best tally for most international runs (28,016) across formats.

Sanga amassed the most Test centuries and fifties for Lanka (38 and 52). He registered the second-highest centuries for Lanka in ODIs (25) and the highest fifties (90). The stylish batsman scripted the most runs in ODIs in 2006 (1,333). He accumulated the most runs in Tests in 2014 (1,493). He scored the second-most runs in the ICC World Cup 2019 (541).
Sanga scored 10 double tons and a triple century
