Can La Liga giants lure Marcus Rashford to leave United?
Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is one of their lethal weapons. In recent times, he has been involved in a number of victories for the club. While he continues his fine run, he is being eyed by two La Liga giants, Barcelona and Real Madrid. Being valued at £100 mn in the transfer market, both the clubs are reported to be preparing bids.
Barcelona look to battle Madrid to acquire Rashford
There are reports in Spain that Barcelona are preparing a £100 mn bid for the United superstar. They would have to battle Los Blancos, who too are eager to acquire his services. Although it is not clear as to how much would Madrid bid for him, as of now, it is being reported Barcelona are ahead as they have made Rashford their prime target.
Rashford puts new contract talks at United on hold
With La Liga giants craving for his services, it has also been reported that Rashford has put his contract talks with United on hold. It was initially said that United were willing to offer him a new contract of £70 mn for five years. As Barcelona look to take advantage of this situation, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that he needs Rashford.
Who would Rashford replace at Barca?
While he has been linked to move to Barca, it is being wondered as to who could be on his way out. Reports in Spain suggest that apparently ex-Liverpool and current Barca player Philippe Coutinho could be shown the door. Interestingly, Coutinho was a target for United a few weeks back, but he is not a priority for Solskjaer.
Should Rashford leave United for Barcelona?
Considering his performance at United, although not consistent, he has played a crucial role in guiding United to wins on several occasions. Also, he has received consistent gameplay this season. With ten goals and seven assists this season in the EPL, Rashford doesn't really need to move anywhere. However, his chances of winning the UCL would surely increase if he moves to Spain.
What's next for Rashford and United?
Rashford is currently with the United squad in Barcelona, where they would be playing the second leg of their UCL quarter-finals on Tuesday. Trailing by a goal, Rashford and United would aim for a turnaround here, while Barca management will have their eyes on Rashford. If Rashford manages to script a historic win for United here, Barca are most certainly going ahead for him.
