ICC Test Rankings: Cummins replaces Rabada as number one bowler
South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada dropped two places to be on third in the latest ICC Test Rankings for bowlers. The Proteas man was replaced by Pat Cummins as the new world number one. Sri Lanka's Kusal Perera gained the maximum in the rankings for batsmen after his epic 153* in the first Test against South Africa. Here's more.
Cummins first Aussie bowler since McGrath to top rankings
Cummins became the first Australian bowler to top the rankings since Glenn McGrath in 2006. The right-arm fast bowler has a total of 878 points. He is followed by England's James Anderson, who has 862 points. Rabada, who picked up just three wickets in Durban against Lanka, is now third with 849 rating points.
Where do Indian players stand in the rankings?
India's Ravindra Jadeja (fifth), R Ashwin (tenth) and Jasprit Bumrah (16th) saw their places remain intact. They are the only three Indians below 20 in the rankings for bowlers. Batsmen Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara kept their places as number one and three respectively.
Perera climbs to number 40 in rankings for batsmen
Perera, who was Lanka's hero in the first Test against the Proteas, gained a massive 58 spots in the ICC Test Rankings for batsmen. He is now at number 40 in the rankings, with a career-high rating of 556. Faf du Plessis and Quinton de Kock moved up. Du Plessis jumped seven spots to be at number 10. De Kock rose to number eight.
