Krunal Pandya: News

The advent of IPL in India has produced and popularized many players who would have otherwise been forgotten. Krunal Pandya is one of those players who took advantage of opportunities that explosive lower-order allrounders have in the T20s. A left-handed batsman and a left-arm orthodox spinner, Pandya's tryst with cricket began when his father took him to Kiran More's cricket academy in Vadodara. Pandya began his domestic career by playing for Baroda in a T20 against Bengal in 2013. His List A debut for Baroda came against Gujarat in 2014. His exploits did not go unnoticed as the scouts of the IPL franchise Mumbai Indians circled him as a potential target. In the auction before the 2016 edition of IPL, Mumbai Indians added him to the team. This was followed by his first-class debut for Baroda against Gujarat. It was in 2017 that he began to make headlines. He finished the IPL season with a man-of-the-match performance in the final after a rewarding domestic season. Pandya finally made his international debut in 2018 in a T20I against the West Indies. His ODI debut came in 2021 against England.
