Kroenke offers to buy whole of Arsenal in £1.8bn deal
Arsenal's majority shareholder Stan Kroenke has offered £600m to buy the club wholly in a deal that could value the London giants at £1.8bn. The billionaire from USA owns 67% of the club through his company KSE. This proposal comes after Kroenke stated that Alisher Usmanov has agreed to sell 30% stake. Here is more on the same.
'Club can prosper significantly under complete ownership'
Kroenke wants full ownership and believes through his company, the club can prosper significantly, given their proposed strategy and ambitions. The announcement of their proposal was made to the London Stock Exchange on Tuesday. Usmanov, who is a minority shareholder of the club, isn't a part of the Gunners' decision-making board. Notably, Kroenke had rejected Usmanov's proposal of a complete £1bn buy-out last year.
KSE involved in heart of everything at Arsenal
KSE's statement read that the club is seeking to win major trophies across all three men's, women's and youth level. It also added that since 2011, "the club has invested in major transfers, player contracts, analytics and senior non-playing football management employees". It hopes that under their guidance, the club will prosper in the future.
Arsenal Supporters' Trust against proposed move by Kroenke
The Arsenal Supporters' Trust (AST) is completely against this move by Kroenke. As per reports, a statement released by the AST has stated that, "Stan Kroenke taking the club private will see the end of supporters owning shares in Arsenal and their role upholding custodianship values." The supporters are against the takeover and they feel that it could be a sad day for Arsenal.
