Krishnamachari Srikkanth is a former Indian cricket player and a former captain of the Indian team. He has also formerly served as the chairman of BCCI’s selection committee. Srikkanth played an important role in India‘s victory in the 1983 Cricket World Cup. He contributed a top score of 38 runs in the final match. At the domestic level, he played for Tamil Nadu. Srikkanth was born on December 21, 1959. He has played 43 Tests and 146 ODIs in his cricket career. At the age of 21, he made his debut in Test cricket against England. In 1981, Srikkanth made his ODI debut in Ahmedabad against England. He was the first cricketer from India to pick up five wickets and score a half-century in an ODI match. He is popularly known for his aggressive style of batting. He also played a crucial role when India won the Benson & Hedges World Championship of Cricket in 1985. In 1993, he bid farewell to international cricket. Post-retirement, he served as a coach of the India ‘A’ team and also did commentary and broadcasting with different news and sports channels.
