FIFA World Cup 2018: Koreans try confusing 'Westerners' by shirt-swapping
South Korea's coach Shin Tae-yong is making the headlines after chalking out one of the most bizarre strategies for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Tae-yong revealed that he made his players swap shirts with each other in friendlies to confuse his opponents. As per the coach, 'Westerners' find it difficult to distinguish Asians and this ensured that teams didn't know everything about Korea's plans.
The rationale behind this strategy
"We switched them around because we didn't want to show our opponents everything and to try and confuse them. They might know few players but it is very difficult for Westerners to distinguish between Asians and that's why we did that" Tae-yong said.
Sweden issue an apology for spying on Korea's session
Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min and South Korea's captain Ki Sung-yueng were the only two players who donned their usual shirts in the friendlies against Bolivia and Senegal. These comments have come after Sweden's manager issued an apology for trying to spy on a closed South Korea's training session. Swedish coach Lanne Andersson clarified that his scout didn't know it was a closed session.
