Zaheer Khan likens Virat Kohli to Sourav Ganguly: Here's why
Sourav Ganguly was an inspirational leader and one of the best in Indian cricket history. Under his leadership, India went on to win away Tests, take the game to the opposition and youngsters flourished. Zaheer Khan, who enjoyed success under Dada's leadership, has likened present Indian skipper Virat Kohli to Ganguly. Zak feels Kohli is expressive and bold in his decision-making just like Dada.
Kohli has played a major role in Tests for India
India are all set to face South Africa in a three-match Test series which is a part of the ICC World Test Championship 2019-21. India are top of the ICC Test Rankings and Kohli has played a huge role in the side's rise. His love for the longest format of the game and the intensity to thrive in red-ball cricket is pretty remarkable.
Zak feels Kohli has shades of Dada
Zaheer, who was a vital cog under Ganguly, went on to praise Kohli. The current Indian skipper has been likened to Dada in terms of his captaincy. Like Ganguly, the 30-year-old is aggressive and bold in his nature. And the passion these two men have for the game is something worth mentioning. Like Dada, star batsman Kohli always pumps his team up.
Kohli is expressive, bold in his decisions: Zak
"Virat is a lot like dada, he is expressive, bold in his decisions and always pumps the team up through crunch situations. His sublime batting form is always reflective of the way he leads the team on field," he said to IANS.
Zaheer opens up on Ganguly and Dhoni as captains
Zaheer also went on to praise Dada and Dhoni. The former left-arm pacer played under both these former skippers. "Sourav made us believe that we can win oversees and inspired us to play with a lot of aggression. Dhoni was calm through tough situations, yet aggressive in his approach. We won the World Cup under him, so it was always very special."
