Kamran Akmal urges Kohli, Rohit to visit Pakistan before retirement
Former Pakistani wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal has expressed his desire for Indian cricket icons Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to visit Pakistan before their retirement. Despite their global popularity and match-winning performances, neither player has participated in an international match on Pakistani soil. The last time India and Pakistan faced off in a series was back in 2012-13, with subsequent matches being limited to multi-nation tournaments like the Asia Cup and ICC events.
Akmal highlights Kohli and Rohit's global popularity
In an exclusive interview with The Times of India, Akmal stated, "Virat and Rohit should visit Pakistan before they retire." He emphasized their status as global cricket stars who have garnered a massive fan base due to their exceptional performances. Despite Kohli having visited Pakistan during his Under-19 days, he has not played there with the senior team.
Akmal believes Pakistani fans' love for Indian cricketers is unparalleled
Akmal further stated that the fan following Kohli and Rohit would experience in Pakistan, would surpass anything they've seen elsewhere. He believes that a visit from players like Kohli, Rohit, and Jasprit Bumrah would evoke unique feelings among Pakistani fans. "No cricketer is more popular than Virat in Pakistan; he has a bigger fan-following than any other cricketer in the world," Akmal added.
