Kohli fined for breaching ICC code of conduct
Indian captain, Virat Kohli has been fined 25% of his match fee for breaching ICC Code of Conduct. The 28-year-old was found guilty of breaching level 1 of the code of conduct during day three of the second test against South Africa in Centurion. Kohli continued to complain to umpire Michael Gough about the ball being affected by the damp outfield before aggressively throwing the ball into the ground. This behavior made the Indian skipper guilty of breaching Article 2.1.1 of the ICC code of conduct and player support personnel, which states that the conduct is contrary to the spirit of the game.
Kohli pleads guilty of charges
The incident occurred in the 25th over of South Africa's second innings and Kohli pleaded guilty to the offense and accepted the sanction against him proposed by the Panel of ICC Match Referees. Kohli's acceptance ensured there was no need for a formal hearing. The charge was leveled by umpires Michael Gough and Paul Reiffel, third umpire Richard Kettleborough and fourth umpire Allahudien Palekar.
