Kohli struck a 70-ball 49 to get to 593 runs in this Test series. The Indian captain surpassed former West Indian legend Brian Lara in becoming the fastest to score 18,000 runs in international cricket. Kohli got past the mark in the 382nd innings of his career. Earlier, Lara held the record (411 innings) and was followed by another legend Sachin Tendulkar (412).

Kohli, who recently slammed 58th international ton, has 6,147 to his name in this format after the 49-run knock. He averages 54.40 in Tests with 23 hundreds and 19 fifties. In ODI cricket, he has managed 9,779 runs at an average of 58.21. The record was further helped by his 2,102 runs in T20Is.
