Liverpool need 105 points to win Premier League: Jurgen Klopp
Liverpool have been the best team of the season when it comes to the Premier League, playing with an equal amount of passion and intensity from the first match till their fixture against Wolverhampton last night. However, manager Jurgen Klopp believes that though the season has been great, there is still no guarantee that they will win the league unless they manage 105 points.
Liverpool presently have 48 out of a possible 54 points
Liverpool's excellence is clearly seen looking at the league table, where they've won 15 out of the 18 league matches they have played so far, conceding just seven goals. Though Klopp's team have not scored as many goals as Manchester City, their powerful defense has played a major role in their success this term. The addition of van Dijk and Alisson were Klopp's masterstrokes.
Interesting stats from Liverpool's performance so far
The last four sides to win the EPL were all leading the league table at Christmas. However, Liverpool themselves failed to do so back in 2013-14. Liverpool have topped the league table at Christmas and then failed to win the trophy the most number of times - three. Klopp, now, has managed to win against all 32 clubs he has faced as Liverpool manager.
How does the Merseyside club need to perform post Christmas?
Liverpool have 20 games left to be played, and as Klopp says, if they have to achieve 105, they will have to achieve 57 points from a possible 60. Though it sounds difficult and can be seen as Klopp pushing the envelope for his team, such targets will only help them fight it out and earn those points every week.
Liverpool boast a wonderful squad this term
Klopp himself agreed that in van Dijk, Liverpool have found what they were expecting. The Dutch center-back has been their backbone, and along with him, Andy Robertson has also surprised everyone with his magnificent performances. Salah is back to scoring, and is already the second-highest scorer after Aubameyang. Klopp is also starting to get the best out of players like Shaqiri and Fabinho.
