Jurgen Klopp whole-heartedly praises Liverpool after Champions League fixture
Liverpool managed to qualify for the Champions League's round of 16 after winning 1-0 against Napoli last night, and their manager Jurgen Klopp could not be happier. In a press conference, Klopp was full of praises for his team, and unlike Mourinho does with United, Klopp, like always, made it a point not to criticize his players in the media. Here's more.
Words of praise from the manager for his players
Klopp, always brimming with energy, said that he had enough adrenaline left in him to fill bottles up. Moreover, he praised his team by saying that they had played with everything, with their hearts and souls, and expressed no regret for chances missed. Klopp said he was spellbound with Salah's goal and Allison's brilliant last-moment save. This praise is what keeps Liverpool players always inspired.
Klopp of course knows there are problems
It is hard to imagine Klopp did not notice the mistakes Liverpool made on the pitch last night. They had created numerous chances, and played with the same level of energy throughout the match, but were hardly effective in front of goal, with Salah and Mane both missing numerous sitters throughout the match. Out of their 24 shots, just 8 were on target.
Why Klopp, and not Mourinho is getting the successes?
Is Klopp a better coach than Mourinho? Debatable. But why do Liverpool end up performing the way they do? It is because their manager always has their back, and they know whatever criticism he has, he will reserve it for the dressing room, and not press conferences. This is exactly what makes them want to go that extra mile for their boss.
Van Dijk hails Liverpool's performance after the match
According to Liverpool central defender Virgil Van Dijk, the Reds had put up a classic performance last night, and it was a well-deserved victory for them. He added that despite Liverpool's robust performance, matters could have been easier if had they managed to net in a goal or two more. Van Dijk also hailed Alisson's wonderful last-moment save.
