KL Rahul is one of the consistent run scorers in Indian Premier League (IPL) history. The Lucknow Super Giants captain has surpassed 500 runs in the IPL 2024 season. He attained the milestone with his 35th run in Match 67 against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday. Rahul has now clocked 500-plus IPL runs in a season on six occasions.
Rahul scored 500-plus runs from 2018 to 2022
From 2018 to 2022, Rahul scored over 500 runs in a season. The former Punjab Kings ace managed 659 runs in IPL 2018 at 54.91. He scored 593 runs in 2019 at 53.90. In 2020, the versatile batter amassed 670 runs at 55.83. The following season saw Rahul score 626 runs at 62.60. He joined LSG in 2022 and clobbered 616 runs at 51.33.
Rahul is only behind Kohli and Warner
IPL legends Virat Kohli and David Warner own the record for scoring 500-plus runs in a campaign on most occasions (7). Kohli, who is IPL 2024's top scorer with 661 runs, managed 500-plus runs in a campaign earlier in 2011, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2023. Meanwhile, Warner scored 500-plus runs in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2020 and 2023.
Rahul goes ahead of Dhawan
Rahul steered clear of Shikhar Dhawan, who managed 500-plus runs in five different campaigns. Dhawan attained the feat in 2012, 2016, 2019, 2020 and 2021 respectively.
