Duleep Trophy, KL Rahul slams his 33rd First-Class fifty: Stats
KL Rahul was one of the bright sparks for India A against India B in the 2024 Duleep Trophy. Albeit in a losing cause, Rahul was his side's best batter across two innings. After hitting 37 in the first innings, Rahul scored 57 runs in the 2nd innings. However, it wasn't enough as Abhimany Easwaran-led India B won by 76 runs.
Rahul held his fort from one end
Rahul came to bat when India A were 51/2 in their 2nd innings. Quick wickets meant, the side was reduced to 76/5 and 99/6 respectively. Rahul held his fort from the other end and managed to add a valuable 42-run stand for the 7th wicket alongside Kuldeep Yadav (14). Team India pacer Mukesh Kumar dismissed Rahul, who edged a delivery behind to Rishabh Pant.
33rd FC fifty for Rahul
Rahul's knock was laced with seven fours. He faced 121 balls. As per ESPNcricinfo, playing his 94th First-Class match (160 innings), Rahul has raced to 6,854 runs at 44.21. This was his 33rd fifty in FC cricket. He also owns 18 hundreds. Notably, 2,863 of his FC runs have come for India in Test cricket at 34.08.
India B beat India A
India B claimed a handsome win over India A in the 2024 Duleep Trophy. Despite being in trouble at 94/7, India B reached 321 runs with Musheer Khan slamming 181. Navdeep Saini hit a fifty. In response, India A were bowled out for 231. Mukesh and Saini claimed three-fers. India B then managed 184, riding on Pant's 61. India A perished for 198 thereafter.
