KL Rahul returns to training ahead of Duleep Trophy
Indian cricketer KL Rahul has returned to the nets, preparing for the forthcoming Duleep Trophy and home Test season. This comes after a significant break for the Indian cricket team following their white-ball series against Sri Lanka. The gap between India's final ODI against Sri Lanka and their first Test match against Bangladesh spans 42 days. Now, the focus is shifting back toward serious cricket as players aim to hone their skills for the upcoming domestic season.
Rahul's training video surfaces on social media
A video of KL Rahul practicing his batting skills has surfaced on social media. It is speculated that he might be training at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. In this video, Rahul can be seen executing a lofted straight drive, showcasing his exceptional talent to spectators. This year, he has not had many opportunities to play international cricket due to an injury sustained during the England series after the first Test match.
Rahul's injury and IPL performance
Rahul had to withdraw from the England series after the first Test due to a quadriceps tendon injury. He sought treatment from a specialist in London, which led him to miss the remainder of the series. Despite this setback, he made a strong comeback in IPL 2024 for Lucknow Super Giants, scoring 520 runs in 14 matches with four half-centuries at a strike-rate of over 136.
Rahul's return to Indian team and Duleep Trophy prospects
Rahul was not included in India's 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup 2024, which was won under Rohit Sharma's leadership. However, he made his return to the Indian team during the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. In the upcoming Duleep Trophy, Rahul will be a crucial player for Team A led by Shubman Gill. Their first match is scheduled for September 5 in Bengaluru against Team B.
